Well, I don't think that having a quick disconnect on the pickup wiring means you have to have the personality card. That may be how Fender is doing it, but they could be separate features.

I can see with the RoHS compliance and shipping over seas it helps. I can also see how it would help so many that can't solder so good not destroy things. I am just old school and want my stuff to not change.

I bought a 2014 Les Paul Classic and had to pull the preamp PC and ream the mini toggle hole back to a 3/8 inch so I could put a traditional pot loom back in it. it was all quick connect. I clipped them and soldered it all in.
I just don't want batteries or effects on board my guitar. I also had to remove the robo tuner and install grover rotomatics on my other one. I run two Les Pauls two Strats.

I just took another look at what is on Fender's website - it looks like the only solderless pickups are 3 Strat sets: the CS Fat 50s, CS Texas Specials, and the Fender Selects. I suppose they are available so those who have solderless setups can install two of their most popular pickup models (CS Fat '50s and CS Texas Specials). I suppose they threw in the Fender Selects to have an additional option.

I doubt they have changed the American Standards and American Specials to the solderless connections; it would be clearly indicated in the specs like it is for the American Deluxe Strat Plus models.

There are solderless Stratocaster single coils available but alas no solderless humbuckers, Telecaster and electric bass pickups at the horizon. :(

How about a solderless Shawbucker with zebra bobbins for the bridge, middle and neck?

I stopped putting humbuckers in strats myself. I run humbuckers in Les Pauls and single coils in Stratocasters these days. :)
