Got a chance to play one this weekend, highly impressed, fender really knocked it out of the park with the new stds. the neck was unreal on this thing and the balance and resonate body sounded perfect. Its almost on the brink of a deluxe (in fact the necks are exactly the same in feel now) that besides the fret markers and the s-1 its hard to distinguish between them. best value on the market right now..

Hello Dzupp,

I already had a american deluxe and
the necks being so similar
is one of the reasons I purched a 2008.

I also like the bent steel saddles.

Cheers.

Yeah I couldn't believe how simlar the necks were, i was playing them side by side. but the std was way more resoante and probably the most balanced strat i've ever played. Balance in the sense that every string is equally as loud. I've been somewhat impressed with past modesl and really like the late eighties early nineties stds. and the late 90's and early 00's american deluxes.

Seems like Fender has pretty much perfected the standard model with these new ones.

great guitars BUT i like the upgrade 2006 and 2007's
highway ones better i can do alot more with tone
with the highway ones than i can with the american standards.

The new American Standards are fantastic - that's why I bought one. Mine is very light and resonant, by far the best strat I've played so far...

Yeah, my out of the box set up was ok - but it was your typical set too high from factory deal. I had it pro set up and the frets dressed - now it's schweet!

...give me GAS. Can anyone explain what the bent steel saddles look like and the difference between the current crop of MIA saddles? The cases are so cool, I had to get two of them on eBay.
