Is there any problem on changing to taller frets on this model(clapton signature series). Does anybody here has done it before? Would like some feedback on this mod! Thanks

You can use any size of frets that you want. It won't hurt the guitar. It may affect the resale price a little since buyers always seem to look for a non modified guitar, especially with an artist series. The small vintage frets were probably the main reason I sold my CS Clapton. I didn't like the feel of them, but I didn't want to diminish the value of the guitar by changing them. Plus there was no wear on the original frets so it seemed a waste to change them out. So I just built a partscaster to replace it and used medium stainless steel frets. They work better for me.
If yours is a production artist series, and you plan on keeping it for a long time, than I'd change them and not worry about it. It's your ax, not EC's.

I heard that SS frets are really tough on strings and you'll be buying new strings all the time with them because they're ultra hard. Don't know about that but that's what i read on a luthiers page on the net.

I also read that they're a nightmare to work with as regards wear and tear on your tools and the work takes much longer. Usually techs will charge extra for working with SS because of the wear on their tools and the extra time it takes to work the material.

I change my strings a lot, so I'm not worried about getting an extra months worth out of them. But, I've seen no evidence that the strings I take off are any more worn on my SS fretted guitars than on my standard fret guitars.
I'm also not concerned about the longevity of luthiers tools. I may pay a little more for the initial install of SS frets. But then I just forget about it and enjoy bending on them. I'm a happy convert. I doubt that I'll ever get a refret without installing SS frets again. In fact if a luthier said he wouldn't install them, I would go elsewhere. Luckily my local guy has no problem working with them.

Apart from the tiny frets I love this guitar. Bending is much harder and since I need to change the frets I'm gonna put a bit taller ones. Probably I'm gonna have to change the nut and bridge saddles. Thanks for the replys.

There have been numerous posts on other forums about the Vintage size frets on the Clapton strat and people complaining about how difficult it is to bend. I find exactly the opposite to be true! I own 3 Clapton starts and can't say enough about the necks. Compared to the 2 American Strats I have with medium jumbo frets I'll take the Vintage any day. Ever watch Clapton? He certainly has no issues bending either.

Also funny how you don't see posts about people complaining about the AVRI frets. I know it's a personal preference thing but seems to be more of a playing style thing. Perhaps not having enough strength in your fingers to bend? All I know is IMO, the Clapton necks are near perfect!

Amen! I own nine other guitars, but every time I play my Clapton I wonder why I have them. The neck is perfect. The only way to describe bending on it is like moving a hot knife through butter.

Yeah my EC is my main guitar for solos. Don't have any issues with frets.
