Hi guys,

I'm thinking about selling my 1997/98 'Crafted in Japan' Fender Stratocaster in Sunburst but I have no idea what it's actually worth. It's in perfect condition with only a few tiny knocks and was hoping you guys could help me!

Thanks
Josh

Market will set the price... what someone's willing to pay.

That said, it will be less than an MIA or the same age.

GLWS !!

cheers!

So, in other words, not Perfect Condition...

Condition of a used instrument is always subjective.

Any Dings, Blemishes or whatever you want to call them will always be subject to the Buyer's interpretation. Some may call it normal wear and tear while others will consider them more severe.

Expect a Buyer to be less forgiving about a guitar's condition than the seller, if for no other reason than to gain an advantage when negotiating price.

The location of the blemish (Front Back, Sides), and the severity of it (surface nick, through the finish, pitting, rust etc.) affect the determination of the overall condition as well.

I believe that the seller is best served by rating the guitar's condition on a 10-point scale. While this can also be subjective, it nonetheless caps the expectations of a potential buyer.

Personally, I would expect a rating no higher than 8.5 or 9.0 for any instrument who's description states it has 'only a few tiny knocks'.

It's better to raise a buyer's impressions than to lower them.

cheers!
