Hello Fender Forum !!,

I recently bought a Fender Stratocaster Highway One (2003) and i need some informations. I need to known if is mexican pickup made? What is the pickup inside ? Alnico II or III ? Which parts of this guitar are mexican - made? Is a Real USA made? Is a USA neck or mexican-made? What's the best string for this type of guitar. Is it better than a MIM ?? Thank you !!

Do you think it's the same for the 2003 model?
Do you think Alnico Pickup are the same on the American Standard?
Are they Mexican-made?
What is GreeseBucket?
what's the best Chrod to put on it?

Thank You so much !!!

The specification changed in 2006, so the 2002 specification should have applied for 2003 too.
There were probably changes in the colours available, but barring that the specs were the same.

It should all be MIA.
You'll need to open it up and show us the reverse of the pickguard for us to get any proper idea about the pickups.

It would be good if you can provide a set of "autopsy pictures", such as the ones at the start of this thread viewtopic.php?f=6&t=97622
Unfortunately for the OP the guitar is a fake (and not a particularly good fake), but the photo show he provided is superbly well done!

MIA = Made In America

OP = Original poster (ie the one that starts a thread)

Just out of curiosity, can you open this up a little - what fake signs do you see in those three pics?

There's nothing wrong at all with the guitar pictured in the first post of this thread.
I have never suggested that there is anything wrong with it.

I was holding the other thread up as a shining example of how to put up a decent set of autopsy photos, and the guitar in the other thread is a poor fake.

String preferences are purely that - preferences!
Fender normally ship with 009-042 or 010-046 Fender strings.

I use D'Addario EXL110s (010-046) on most of the electrics here, and I've used them for the last 20 years.
I have one Strat set up for E flat tuning, and I use EXL115s (011-049) on this instrument.

OK, I confused OP and OP in the other thread.

To Strawberiver: I'd suggest you take the guitar to a good tech for a full setup (including new default gauge strings, plus a general checkup), then play the beast as much as you can. You'll get to know the guitar in time, and can make adjustments to your taste later - if needed.
