I bought a 24 3/4" 22 fret replacement neck (the 22nd fret overhangs the end of the neck) to put on a Stratocaster that has a vintage style trem and normal 25 1/2 neck and 21 frets.

Question I have is do I have to obtain longer screws for the bridge saddles? In my head I figure that they would have to be moved closer to the neck as so to get the scale length right.

Only other thing I could guess is that the replacement neck already is has the measurements factored into it, thus the bridge saddles don't need any tweaking.

Thanks for any help!

Warmoth sells such things so I'd try unofficialwarmoth.com and see if anyone there knows anything.

This scale change issue has woken some (to say the least) interesting conversations on the forum before - use search function for "conversion" if you want some light evening reading.
If the neck you bought is designed as a conversion neck (like the Warmoth), it should be a "drop-in" replacement (I use brackets, because usually a planned drop-in needs some extra attention.)

The total scale length is the key factor here: will the new neck and the bridge be true to the 24.75" scale. Check that by tape meter; measure the free string length from the front end of the nut to the contact point in the saddle, highE side. As a default, you should have space to adjust the intonation by lenghtening the other strings - so keep this in mind when you check the highE.

The second thing to consider is the pickup placement and its possible effects on the sound - you just gotta hear for yourself.

There was one forum mention of a MIJ Strat with a short scale neck in a normal body, but that remained a bit unconfirmed.
So, keep us posted on the development and the end result.

I recall a major discussion on this in the Forums. Do a search. Perhaps you can find it.
