...The reason for sorta NGD is that I put this on layaway for the next month:

Image
2012 American Standard in Jade Pearl with the Custom Shop Fat '50s (although this picture is from Fender's website showcasing the 2014 American Standards, same diff).

The wait is already killing me. I always come back to Fender; I had a Strat and a Tele and thought I needed to stop there. I have since acquired a Les Paul, ES 335, and a Duesenberg and was content for a bit. I sold my Tele (without any seller's remorse, surprisingly) but felt my inner being crying out for more Fender guitars. During my casual browsing of the used selection at GC today, I caught sight of Her Majesty (most likely what I will name her) and the rest is history. I will be glad to post pics in my future updated thread of me taking her home. For now, it's nice to come back to this brotherhood of guitar players.

Jade Pearl is a cool finish... the marketing pics don't do it justice.
Nice Strat 8)

Congrats! Those Fat 50's are some sweet sounding pickups!

And as usual, post some pics here once it comes home!

Nice colour scheme on that one. I guess there are now two colours I like the mint scratch plate with.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Sorry for the thread hijack, but what's the other one? Saw a Custom Shop Lake Placid Blue Strat that was reliced with a mint green pickguard and it actually looked pretty good. Wasn't sure a reliced LPB Strat would look good and I was sure mint green wouldn't look good on an LPB, but it worked!

By the way, OP. Nice looking Strat you got on your way. Post pics when you get it!

No need to apologize for the hijack, I'm friendly about that sort of stuff :)

I may just have to slap on a mint green pick guard once I get mine! I used to have an Olympic White Strat with a mint green pick guard but it never really stuck for me, eventually swapped it out for a red tortoise shell guard. My current surf pearl strat has a white pearl pick guard on it (kind of an aged white color, very cool!). I think the mint green would go well on this jade pearl since the greens would blend well.

Yeah, I think mint green and pearl green would go together quite nicely!

Whatever you do, post pics. 8)

Greetings, friends!

Quick update: I did get the American standard and had it for about 3 weeks. I tried setting it up one day and realized it had some raised frets and slight warping in near the early frets. I took it back to GC where my eyes immediately gazed upon a 2013 deluxe custom Strat in violin burst. I sat down with said guitar for nearly 2 hours and realized that this was what I had wanted all along; the neck feels more substantial and fills the hand nicer than a standard. I'm a sucker for interesting and rare paint finishes and had to have this one--a beautiful flame top with that gorgeous violin burst. Haven't gotten around to taking pics because I've been so damn busy playing it, but here goes:

The mint guard isn't gonna look as good on the Dlx.......But I don't think anyone would notice.
The jade pearl is a fine color(my 2nd favorite), but hell ya upgraded to a really sweet looking flame top.
Nice axe.
