The wiring test: Highway1 has the Greasebucket wiring.

BTW, the Frontline 2006 shows vintage headstock HWY1's.

On Frontline 2006 , H1 are show at pages 66 and 67, I see small headstock only .

Yes, the first made Fender had small headstock and all guitar in Leo years.

CBS start big headstock in end of 60 if I'm right

The 2006 Frontline only shows the body of the HSS Highway 1; they did in fact have the large headstocks (you'll have to find a 2004 or 2005 Frontline scan to see it). The revised Highway 1s didn't come out until circa July-September of 2006.

I did look at the OPs photos - I believe this is at least highly modded or perhaps it is a parts guitar. The neck is from an SSS Highway 1 from the first half of 2006 (when they still had the small headstock). Highway 1s didn't have black plastic parts so that has been changed - so it might not have Highway 1 pickups/wiring (also the early 2006s didn't have that "Greasebucket" circuit; that was part of that update that happened later in the year). Regarding the body - I don't believe that a Highway 1 body could be polished up to be that glossy; I suppose it could have been refinished.

I'm thinking it's most likely a parts guitar with a Highway 1 neck.

Yeah, it could certainly be a partsocaster with a Hwy One neck.

Thank you all for your input.
Seems its leaning towards partscaster with hwy 1 neck. Im getting it on trade, unfortunatly due to a broken wrist I haven't been able to play it yet... :(
im actually new to electrics primarily acoustic before, this is one beautiful guitar and feels really nice so I'm definitely keeping it.
next question is when assigning a value to something like this, how does it work? Does it tank primarily because it's a partscaster?
I was told it is a Seymour Duncan in the bridge, and does have a gilmour switch.
How would I assign a $ value to this?
Thx all

Yep. Probably worth quite a bit less than a comparable used Hwy 1 that is all stock.

On the background conversation:
The Frontline 2006 I'm reading from support/library pages and the link above shows a Crimson Red Transparent Highway 1 model, complete full frontal, headstock and all, spreading from page 66 to 67 (according to page numbers on the Frontline) or pages 70-71 (according to page numbers on issuu thumbnails)...
And (a quote): " All Highway One Stratocaster guitars now feature the NEW Greasebucket™ Tone Circuit" on the same spread...

To the OP:
Partscasters usually have lower resale value than originals. But that doesn't mean they would be worse, as far as playability, tone etc. are considered - most mods are meant to be upgrades. (Remember: "Partscaster" does not equal "fake" unless someone tries to sell it as an original...)
Check what the neck pocket stamps & stickers & signatures say, it would be nice to know what body that is, if it's not a HWY1. Edit: And email Fender Consumer Relations with the serial number; they'll provide the original specs related to that number.

Thank you for that. Helped put things in perspective. It is a beautiful guitar, unfortunately due to broken wrist iv yet to play it. Im gunna replace neck plate soon and will post pick of neck and pocket. At that time i will add pic of wiring and pick ups.
Certainly a keeper, was a bit bummed about it being partcaster until jmattis put things into perspective.
I also emailed Fender, will update once I receive response. Thanks again all.
