Welcome to the forums Tughan, You're right, there are obvious marks on the neck and slight finish cracks at the Neck Pocket.

It's hard to judge just looking at pictures, but I don't see a reason to seek repairs and don't think they will affect tone in any way.

The Neck Pocket cracks seem superficial, you can tell if the wood is cracked by removing the Neck.

The indentations on the front and back of the Neck also seem pretty minor.

The question is do they bother you?

- Dan

Just to be safe you might want to remove the neck and inspect the neck pocket. If it looks like the crack is actually in the wood you'll want to have a tech look at it. At first glance it appears to be a crack in the finish but you never know until you check.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Would have to agree with danagos. I have a question thought is this guitar brand new? if so then return it. If not then I see nothing there structural that would affect the guitar. The cracks in the neck pocket are finish cracks and quite common to Stratocasters.

Thank you my friends for these answers.

danagos;
I guess these things are bother me :( but if it not a big problem it is ok. But I have one question too. Are these things repairable? If it is I can take it to luthier.

BMW-KTM;
ı guess you are right my friend. I should take my Guitar to luthier so he can check these cracks.

T2Stratman;
This is 2006 standard fender bro. Now it's price in Turkey is 4500 Turkish Lira. I bought this to 2400 turkish lira with original hard case. So it is second hand. Is this a good price for you? I know these guitars are sooo much cheaper in your country but here the prices are twice :(

Works out to about $1,034USD, you're right about being less expensive in the US.

Yes, a good luthier can drop fill the indentations, probably with Super Glue and coloring. It most likely will be noticeable.

To my eyes the Neck Pocket cracks are only in the finish. Keep an eye on them and if they grow, then you need a luthier.

Why don't you play it for a couple of months and then decide. You might find that a pro set-up is called for (probably), or something really necessary needs attention, not just cosmetic repairs.

Most players would much rather have a somewhat used looking guitar that plays really well. :D

Look at the picture below of my #2, I did that on purpose and it plays GREAT.

Good luck,

- Dan

This is just my own $.02 worth so please use it accordingly...

To me this sounds as though the OP bought a 9 year old instrument and actually expected it to be "factory fresh"...not trying to be rude at all here, but I do have to snicker at that a little.

Since the guitar is a 2006, I honestly wouldn't sweat any of the issues here at all. Most instruments that have been played to any degree, particularly one that's 9 years old, are going to have a few nicks, dings, bruises etc...it goes with the turf. Kind of like buying a 9 year old car - you should expect a few scratches and dings. Honestly you even see a bit of this today with brand new instruments at the larger guitar shops such as Guitar Centers and Sam Ash where you have every weekend wanker banging on those suckers day in and day out. It's rather amazing how many "new" guitars I've seen that have such flaws, just from being on display in the store! It's not usually as bad at smaller shops where you see tags on the guitars that say "PLEASE ASK FOR ASSISTANCE" but at places such as Guitar Center, a brand new guitar is often "used" long before it gets into your hands.

As far as the neck goes, ask yourself this; does the feel of a bumps/bruises really effect your playing or is it simply a cosmetic issue...i.e. it just bugs you when you look at it? -If- there actually is a sharp edge or something there that seriously catches your attention when you're playing, then maybe it's worth addressing, otherwise I'd suggest just being proud of your axe's battle scars....shows that someone somewhere loved the guitar enough to play it :-)

With the neck pocket, you could have a luthier take a look at, but chances are it's just a crack in the finish...Fender tends to use a rather heavy, thick, poly finish on many of their instruments (as many companies do) and often the finish will crack a bit right there at the neck joint since that's the area of the body that typically sees the most stress. While I haven't checked recently, I think most of my older Strats have similar cracks/checks in that area to one degree or another (my '95 sitting next to me here certainly does...I just looked, LOL!). Unless there's an actual crack in the wood itself...common with low end laminate bodies (I had an old Cort once that was just awful), then like the neck, I really wouldn't worry about it.

From the pics there, I'm honestly not seeing anything that I'd worry about at all. Seriously...unless you get a guitar right off the assembly line and lock it in a hermetically sealed case (which in my view defeats the point of owning a guitar), between the natural characteristics of wood and the typical wear and tear of playing the instrument, chances are it's going to have some degree of cosmetic flaws. When it comes to used instruments, remember that the greatest majority of guitar players out there often don't treat their guitars as some sort of priceless china doll. Personally, yea...I do try to take good care of my instruments and I do like them to look as nice as possible for as long as possible, but sometimes sh_t happens. Two of my Strats (my '96 and my '93) both have burns on the headstock where I was doing the Stevie Ray thing with my cigarette while I was playing. Goodness knows that a few of my guitars have gotten knocked off their stands down in the studio. Before I started religiously using Strat Locks, I certainly had a guitar or two come off while I was playing and hit the ground and at least once, I actually tripped over my cable while hopping off stage and knocked the guitar right off the stage...was REAL glad I didn't bust the neck or anything (she took a REALLY hard flop there). Again, used guitars tend to have their bumps and bruises. 'Tis the nature of the beast.

For what it's worth, also remember that some folks actually pay extra for such things...ala the Fender "Roadworn" series...as they believe it gives the guitar more character or more "mojo".

Lomitus!! You really know your job!!

These bruises don't annoying me now. Interestingly I start to memorize some transitions from these bumps :)

Battle Axe Scars! omg this is really shocked me. I never think these things like this. Now I am totally fell in love with this babe. Thank you so much.

I just wonder the neck pocket crack. thats all. But you said that this crack is genetic :)

Sadly in Turkey the prices are really over then US and some other country. So Brand News are 4500 TL what means 1956.6000 USD. You must see the pedals' prices. I trying to bought second hands which are nearly brand new.

Thank you so much again and again.
