Then I'd start saving if it was me. What your talking about doing is damaging to your guitar and will ruin it's value. You can find a decent MIM used for a few hundred bucks. You might be able to get a few hundred for your guitar now. It's something to consider.

i live on iceland our population is 300,000.. i have search google
million times no one is selling a cheap strat....
i bought my strat for about 40,000 icelandic kr. thats about 500 bucks for a USED strat so a knew one costs about 60,000 kr. thats 750 bucksif i lived in america it would be no problem for me to get an strat so cheap but i live on a island with very high taxes on things you take to the country... about 24% so my point is:
ITS NOT THAT EASY FOR ME

No need to yell. I didn't make those tariffs. I know it sucks. Hey, if you seriously feel that stuck and absolutely have to do what you want to do, it doesn't matter what anyone here says. I mean if your looking for someone here to tell you it's a good idea, that's probably not going to happen. I still say play what you've got and keep saving and looking for a guitar that suits you better. But what the heck, we're not you. Go ahead and good luck to ya. Let us know how it goes, ok? I know there's a few of us here who'd love to find out how it worked for ya. Send some pics too!

Three things. First, watch British Ebay (www.ebay.co.uk) for a few days. New and used Strat bodies come up quite often: shipping costs will be lower than from America and import tariffs will be much lower than buying a whole new guitar. Swap a new body into your existing neck and hardware: much easier and better than filling the trem cavity like you are suggesting, and not too expensive. Save the old body for sale or future use.

If you can find a body on Ebay in another EFTA country then there are no duties anyway.

Second possibility, buy a Kahler bridge plate to put over the vibrato cavity, like this:

http://www.wammiworld.com/Adaptor%20plates.html

Then put a Kahler fixed bridge onto it, like this:

http://www.wammiworld.com/u7330.html

Third, ask your government to join the European Union. Then you won't have any import duties at all from anywhere in the EU. And loads of choice in that marketplace of 400 million people. Some nice Schaller bridges available from Germany, for example...

So have you figured out what you're going to do about your Floyd Rose? That websit for that adapter looked pretty good.
I was stationed at the NATO BASE 1985 to 86.

That site with the cover plate looked like it would solve your problems and look great without re-finishing or any of that.

Well no I guess I didn't look that closely; I thought it provided a base to mount your hard tail bridge. Maybe someone there can make some thing like that for you? The Iceland people I worked with there could just about fix/build anything out of nothing! Did the UK E-
Bay thing work out for you?
