Hi all!

I have an Mexican strat with Floyd Rose II for almost 19 years by now. For some time now, the bridge does not get back at place (in tune) after I use it, especially after a drop down.

What I have done so far is the following:
1. Tighten the block to the plate.
2. Sanded and polished the stud pivots and the knife edges where they meet (thought the marks from the friction held the whole bridge from returning in place) and lubricated the arias with graphite powder.
3. Got new springs from Schaller.
None of these helped.

And just now I put an extra spring making the whole system harder and tenser. This helped to some extend but does not solve the problem entirely.

Somehow I don't feel like spending 160Euros for a new Schaller (or more for a original FR) for a guitar that cost me 550$ back in 1996.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Lachezar

The answer is to be found in your point 2.

If the knife edges are damaged the bridge cannot return to its proper rest position, and tuning problems will occur.
You've not been adjustment the height of your action with the strings at pitch , have you?

No, recently I have not, as by experience for the kind of strings I use, I know I want them a quarter revolution short of the lowest position of the stud pivots.

Thank you! I'll check the knives again.

Yes but you have already said you don't really want to fix it, your looking for magic.
