Hi, first time posting here! So over my holiday weekend, I was playing my squire strat, and thought that this is not enough anymore. Looked online at guitar center used inventory (I was surprised because I'm lefty didn't think that there would be one there in the used section), and saw this close by too. I went to guitar center, pick the guitar up. Plugged up, and started to play; this guitar was really good, the sound of the middle pup was amazing. Very hot, put the amp clean, there was just alittle bit of breakup, which I love. As I was playing I saw this sticker, said "Special Edition". I looked the hang tag, it said 03' Fender Standard. I only thing I can think of maybe it the paint, because it has a sparkle to it. I'm just wondering if anyone can shed some light on it? Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Special Editions are usually special limited runs where they make small changes in cosmetics or sometimes features for big box stores like GC. I have a 2011 Standard Telecaster Special Edition. The only thing I found different about it than a regular Standard Tele is the paint scheme and the switch plate is reversed. It's copper burst in color and as far as I have found, it was made only for GC for two years. It plays and sounds just like all the others.
I have a 96 MIM Strat also (not special edition) and mine plays and sounds exactly like a friend's special edition. They are set up identical to each other and he agrees there is no difference in playability or sound.

Yes, and yours seems to be the color ... which looks fabulous, by the way. Being a special edition it can raise the value a tad, too. Really nice looking guitar.
