Post subject: Changing Tremolo spring tension.

So, last month i bought a Mexican standard strat, when it came from the shop it came with 9's on it, and i normally play with Ernie Ball regular Slinkys, If i restring, how much will i have to adjust the tremolo tension?

Just enough to balance the added string tension. That will either mean tightening the trem claw screws, or adding a spring, or both. You might even need a slight truss rod adjust, maybe intonation adjustments, maybe even saddle height adjustments. All adjustments should be slight, but if you aren't comfortable doing the adjustments, it would be worth it to have a professional setup.

Take a measurement of the height of the tremolo plate in respect of the body before restring, try to set it to the same height with the new string set, by adjusting the spring claw. That way you should need a very small adjustment of the saddles height and intonation.

Alright, thanks. It was set up from the store when bought, so i'll keep it to those measurements.
