Hey Guys,

So I have never owned a fender in my life until my uncle gave me his old crusty strat this thanksgiving. After looking up strat info I came to the conclusion mine is kind of different than normal. The serial number starts with MN414 and its on the back of the head stock. Second, it only has one tone knob and in place of were the second one should be is a coil split. Now to my knowledge this guitar was bought brand new. Just looking for a little info here as to what it is and what its worth. I would never sell it but a little insight would be cool.

Thanks!!

Ive been playing the same EMG jackson dinky for years and this strat absolutely puts that thing to shame, it does need some adjustments but I am blown away. Do wish it had 24 frets though

Hopefully I did it right, sorry for the quality. It's a cream yellow color, kinda hard to tell

Several would be better, front and back overall, headstock front and rear, etc.
You've given us a portrait with the head cut off :)

More photos would be helpful, but from the one photo it looks like a short lived MIM model from that 1994-1996 era that I believe was called the Stratocaster Special. I haven't seen one in a while, and they were kind of the predecessors of what we now call the MIM Deluxe series. Your Strat has the HSS pickups, master tone and the coils splitter in place of the second tone control. They also had a Tele model that had a neck humbucker and the 6-saddle vintage bridge.

It looks like a MIM Strat® Special from 1994, but three things don't quite fit:
There should be "Made in Mexico" under the serial number. (Yer uncle scraped it off?)
The truss rod plug should be black plastic. (Pic color balance is wrong?)
The middle screws in the trem cover plate should be in an angle. (New cover, and new screw holes?)

Might be good to check what's in the neck pocket - stamps, signatures, stickers etc.

Clapton's 'Blackie' was an old crusty Strat mongrel. You never know. Looks like a keeper with a lot life left in it. Find a reputable tech to give a good tuneup and play.

+1

Assembled from three different Strats Eric bought for $100 each at Nashville's Sho-Bud in 1970.

Reminds me of that old photo taken at the Rainbow Concert. Townsend's failed attempt at getting Clapton cleaned up and back in gear. Probably the only time the guitar was seen with a trem bar on board. I've no doubt you've that photo in your computer's dusty innards.
