Hi guys,

A while ago i bought what i thought was a US Fender Strat only to be told it was a squier parts caster.

I'm hoping the second time is the charm.

I'm going to be meeting later today to pick up this guitar. Looks to be the real deal, i hope! The CN serial number would make it a Custom Shop Nineties from what i've seen online. The owner said the only thing he has changed out is the pickups.

I was just hoping to get some reassurance this one is the real deal?

Thank you for any information

Does it come with the custom shop certificate of authenticity? If not I would walk the other way.

No COA, but he says he bought it in 1993... So i really wouldn't expect him to have one.

I sure would. "A fool and his money are soon parted."

You've been burned once, and you still plan to buy a guitar that's claimed to be CS but comes with no COA?

I'm double checking on the COA right now to be sure...

What can i say? You can't win if you don't play. Between the nice neck, the pickups, and bridge if i part it out i'm sure i could get what i'm paying for it.

Let's review, no COA, a '94 neck plate on a '93 guitar non original pickups no custom shop case and a cheap selling price. Good luck Mr. Gump. Don't understand why you asked in the first place you seem determined to buy this guitar anyways.

To be honest i really like the looks of the guitar. Also he said he purchased it around 93/94. That was my mistake.

It does come with a custom case.

Then I guess it depends on the asking price, how much you want it, and if you expect a return on your investment. Some Partsocasters are great players and for some people that's all that matters. It all comes down to how much it's worth to you. Without a COA you will have trouble selling it to the next guy who will be asking the same questions and having the same doubts.

Well i did reach out to Fender Customer Support and actually e-mailed them some pictures.

The guy on the phone was great. Told me which guitar the store was sold to (which by happenstance is the one the seller told me he got it from).

Said there is nothing that looks out of place. The only thing is if the color is correct this should be a black hollowflake which is supposed to sparkle a bit under light, so i will keep my eye out for that when i go to meet up.

but for the most part it checks out.

Hopefully you had that conversation via email or PM so you have and can keep a record of it. Saving a screen shot or two might prove helpful, at least a little, if you ever decide to sell.

For reference, here is a Purple Holoflake example from 1994. I believe the guitar you have is genuine, save any electronic changes.

Ok guys,

Went and bought the guitar. The seller seemed like a trustworthy guy (but who doesn't?) and was honest about why he was getting rid of it.

Definetly has that hollowflake finish the Fender rep mentioned. The neck is gorgeous looking and it has Seymour Duncan pickups. Very excited to have it.

Can anyone tell me what these would go for?

Pictures attached!

I have no idea of it's value but your guitar has a very nice looking maple neck
