:?: I have heard that the Blactop line is being discontinued or at least most of them. Has anyone heard what is replacing them? I love mine.

This is absolutely normal.

The Blacktop line is currently phasing out. Fender discontinues the series to leave much enough room for a new breed of guitars and basses in 2015.

It's def the norm for these models to come... and then go...
But I'm happy I have one :D
My HSH Blacktop Stratocaster is a fine instrument... I must admit... Fender really has improved a ton of things with their Mexi line. I remember when they wern't all that great... but many of the newer Mexi's are very good. The Blacktop line for sure was one of their best... with the Stratocaster's in particular being exceptionally well made, great playing, awesome looking and sounding guitars... mine's a "Keeper" 8)

I've said it a number of times.
Models come and go.
Get 'em while they're hot.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I thought the Blacktop range was a real hit for Fender.

But anyway, easy enough project. Turn it up a few notches and make your own ultimate split coils Strat....

The avatar doesn't reflect the modifications you made to your guitar.

A Hot Noiseless pickup in the middle flanked by a pair of DiMarzio humbuckers in the neck & bridge.

Nice Dave Murray-inspired axe! :P

In your place I would add another DiMarzio humbucker in the middle and put a matching black HHH pickguard.

For a more "sinister" look you might consider putting an EMG pickup set (89 bridge, SA middle, 60 neck).

I love mine. It's very versatile with the five way switch. And I'm quite happy with the pickups. I do need a nicer amp though as I am practicing with a Frontman 25, and the distortion is way over the top. Thinking about getting a Champion 40 or something similar.

Great idea with the Sinister look... wow I just discovered those EMG humbuckers can be ordered with chrome covers of BLACK CHROME and BRUSHED BLACK CHROME  ...man they are looking ding dong.

I can't yet find any Black Chrome humbucker covers elsewhere aftermarket. They would look  on a Tele Blacktop I have with a chrome metal guard. If I could just replace the humbucker covers for Black Chrome.

Actually, I already have 2 Lace Hemi humbuckers ready to drop into that Blacktop Tele.
Then I may try out an EMG JH HET Set or 81/60 combo in another guitar setup.

Yeah Chromeface, they are 2 different Strats, the one in my avatar is Psycho, my oldest faithful geet of the lot. The Strat above belongs to Mihai in Romania who I made the custom stainless steel guard for.

Looks like Fender is getting ready to unveil the new Standard Stratocaster HH and HSH (there'll be a Standard Tele HH as well) at NAMM.

There's no HSH version on the MIA Standards, as far as I can tell. They did a hand-rubbed ash FSR a couple of years ago in a very limited quantity. Discontinued.

The only MIA Strats with an HSH layout are the Dave Murray signature and the American Deluxe with Modern Twinheads.

Just watched a NAMM 15 video review and they mention the Blacktop series being discontinued and absorbed into the Mexican Standard series.

You only have to look at the recently relaunched Fender USA website to see how the various models are being grouped into product groups.

Only the humbuckers from the Blacktops are incorporated into the MIM Standard series. The Blacktop line was definitely gone.

They appear to have a MIM Dave Murray sig strat now with the single-spaced SD hot rails and real Floyd Rose! If it retails under $800 I may be a buyer! Can't justify the price on the US Dave Murray!
