Yeah I know it might not be good idea to ask in a fender forum, but I think it's better to ask here than many other places. anyways I just wanted to ask which would be the better guitar to get, an 08' MIA Standard Strat, or a P-90 SG? I have an HSS MIM Strat that is slightly modified and sounds great, but when I went to play the MIA Strat and the SG they both sounded much better. So I'm just asking which one would be the better choice.

Actually we've had that discussion here in the last few months. I'm a strat man but I think a P90 loades SG is a great guitar. Which one is better is totally up to you. The necks are different, the tone is different. You have to decides which feels best and sounds best for what you spend the most time playing.

Hello B-52Stratocaster,

Oddly enough I sold my SG to buy
an '08 American Standard.

I'm happy with it.

Cheers.

Maybe u should consider what order u will be obtaining these guitars.
The reason I say that is it sounds to me like you would love or even have use for both style guitars. 8)

Although if u ask me...
I say the American Standard Strat all day long!
(I have a deposit on one currently...)
-ooor
first the strat then P-90 SG...

The strat is more versitile and comfortable in more situations...
Its a no brainer to me.

What kind of amp are you playing through?

If you already have a Strat, you have to consider if the new one will be different enough to justify it over a different style guitar, especially one with different pickups.

that's exactly what I was thinking. I'm playing on a good 30 watt amp. I think I'm gonna have to go play them some more to decide, but I'm leaning toward the Strat.

I'd say go with the Strat, but they are both different sounding guitars so you can try to justify needing the two different sounds.
