In truth, it's all totally subjective.

Ask 10 people and get 10 answers... But none of their answers may be right for you... !!

Head down to your local git shop(s) with your new guitar and try everything you can within your price budget (yes... they'll let you do that   ). Forget about the logos on the front, just let your own ears decide.

The right amp will make itself known to you..

Good Luck !!

cheers!

Absolutely RIGHT ON THE MONEY!

What may sound great to one person may sound like total crap to the next. Personally I love my old Lab L5, I love my Bugera V22 and I love my old '73 Bandmaster (as long as I can con some sucker into hauling the speaker cab up and down the stairs! LOL!). I really enjoy my little Princeton too. That said, I've gotten just as much use out of my cheap older Peavey's as I have with any other amp I own.

There's no real "right" or "wrong" here...as Lightnin said, take your axe to local music shops and play thru as many amps as you can within your price range. You'll figure it out :-)

I also just got a Fender Stratocaster MIM w/ CS Fat50s and I ended up getting an Orange Micro Terror Amp Combo. This amp sounds great. I had a Peavey VYPYR VIP 1 before this one but the Orange sounded better to me.

Micro Terror amps are bad $@! hybrid mini 20 watt amp. I picked up a store demo one for $130. Out of the box they sound great but, it is fun to swap out the JJ 12AX7 it comes with. I've tried a NOS Phillips and new Mullard in it. I like to try a new Tung Sol. I did not get the cab for it. I run it through an 8 ohm Raven cabinet with a Celestion in it.

I have a Roland cube 30, I use in the man cave, it has a few different built in effects, and some different amplifier emulators, the tweed or classic amp setting sounds nice, really nice Strat quack. Plus you can get them quite cheap, and they are quite loud for a small amp.

Congrats on the Stratocaster. Greatest guitar ever made.

I've been through a few tube and solid state amps. The ones that I play now are the Fender Champion 110 (upgraded with a Lil' Buddy speaker) and the Blackstar HT-5C. If I had to choose just one and I weren't sentimentally attached to the Fender it would be the Blackstar because it has an MP3 input jack for playing backing tracks. I don't miss not having reverb. I just hide a Carbon Copy delay pedal behind it, in the effects loop.

If you want an idea what these sound like check out my clips on Soundcloud.
