I got an email response from Sigler, only saying that they are looking into it and will get back to me. I kind of feel like I may be doing beta testing for Fishman.
I'm still kind of hoping for an easy fix of some kind. I really don't want to have to send this pickguard back. I guess I could put the N3's back in. They served me well for three years.

Its a shame that we are running into this issue & the response is not as expected. To me these sound like the best pickups I've ever used. The clarity & sustain is amazing.I am yet to hear from Sigler on the tone control issue.I am writing back to Fishman too on this as they are interested in working on it.

As long as you're writing, might be worth asking for a consideration as you seem to be serving as a test bed for their new baby.

I'm sure that Sigler will deal with this. I think they are caught in the middle through no fault of their own, so I'm going to give them the chance to look into it. Contacting Fishman at this point may just gum up the process. Plus, since Fishman doesn't know me, I don't want to just ship my pickguard off to them.
Normally I make good use of my tone controls. I was focusing on the presets I had made recently and just set the tones to 8 and left them there, not knowing they weren't functioning. The pickups sounded great, so I only plugged in to test the tone controls so I could tell Jesuscares that mine worked fine, only to be a bit startled that they had no effect, and suddenly I had a problem. Weird!

I finally received a reply from Sigler with actual info. I'm not going to paste the message, but the jist of it is that Fishman, at first said they were unaware of any problems. Sigler assembled two loaded pickguards, tested them and both had non functioning tone pots. Fishman now concedes there may be a problem with the pcb boards.
I told Sigler I was willing to sit tight for the time being to see if Fishman comes up with a fix. Since these pickups sound pretty good even without functioning tone pots, my guitar is usable. But, if it drags out very long I am going to want to return this pickguard and get something else.
I hope I have an update before too long. I hate having problems on the back burner that I can't deal with and move on.

Thanks for the info.I think you have the best decision right there.Funny after all the promo Fishman did on Fluence pups they didn't figure out the tone control issue. You mentioned PCB board. Is that a part of the pickup or tone control ? I sent a couple of emails to Fishman but they still haven't got back. I thought they might have sold plenty by now.Sounds very strange for a company like Fishman to make big mistakes. As for the tone knobs,I seldom use them. But if a tone control can add more brightness or lows to the existing pups, that may come real handy besides bypassed tone controls as we have now.

The pcb is built into the bridge pup. I agree, I thought that Fishman had plenty of time to work out the kinks. These units shouldn't have shipped.

Fishman emailed me that they are sending parts to Sigler soon. They really ought to send us free pickups, being such a reputed company !

Just got an email from Fishman that the problem was Sigler might have accidentally used a wrong valued capacitor when wiring the Fluence pickups & that there are no defective parts on their pups !

That doesn't make much sense. The caps in mine are .022, which is what Fishman shows on their schematic.

I may end up being wrong, but I kind of think that Fishman is just covering their butts. I don't see how Fishman can figure on selling these to diy'ers if they are that sensitive. A cap value doesn't normally make tone pots completely non functional. I don't care as long as I get good pickups soon. I haven't heard anything from Sigler since Thursday.

Maybe you need to get in touch with Fishman guys so we can find out what is fishy!

I want to give Sigler time to take care of this and not get in the middle of their relationship with Fishman. I don't care about "he said, she said", as long as I get good pickups soon.
But what Fishman told you, doesn't make much sense to me. If the caps are that critical, then they should be part of the shipped components. Normally they are not that critical.

The latest word is that the caps were supposed to be .22mf, not .022mf. A new cap is being mailed to me. I'm real anxious to install it. Does this value cap seem strange to anyone?
