That's not fake aging on the back of the pick guard, it's shielding.

My '65 has it and it comes in handy when the inside air is dry like it is now. No fabric softener dryer sheet necessary with that Strat.

Yeah it looks exactly like my buddies 66 pickguard even with hand writing on pickups. The body looks like his other that he had repainted white too. Lou pointed out that the 12th fret marker spacing was off so it could be an aftermarket neck with a waterslide decal and aged lacquer spray. I certainly have seen my share of that. Hard to tell in those little pictures.

The incorrect spacing on the 12th fret markers would be more than enough to make me run away from that Strat. No more crappy pictures would be necessary. :)

Does yours have ES stamped in body too? Or is that a sunburst stamp?

There is no ES stamped anywhere which makes sense since the '65 had a standard black finish. The only thing special about it is that I love Black Strats with rosewood fretboards. :)

I'm not sure what if anything is stamped on the body. The pickguard hasn't been off for a year and a half, when I had a 5 way switch installed. I should have taken more body pictures then.

You're welcome!

Hmmm, that "1966 original, refinished in Red ... fiesta" Strat with a fake neck has a listing of 5,000 euros. That's $6,200 at the current exchange rate. I hope no one spent that much for it.

I do not know if the guy Ad knows what it sells or it is deliberately a scam!
I send an email last week by gently pointing out some doubts on the handle, but he did not répondut, bizzare!

I did not know that, chromeface. Thanks for the info.

I'll bet Al Kooper was just a bit more gentle with that Strat than Jimi would have been. I'd say it went to a good home. :)

The fact that the guitar was refinished immediately disqualifies the seller's claim that it's original and lowers the value. Throw in the fake neck and it's run away time.

I'm not surprised that your questions weren't answered.
