I wonder what the ES stamped into the body means ...

The body also has an “ES” legend pressure stamped between the middle and neck pickups. We wish to refer you to a statement from “provide.net” that explains the “ES” stamp that was used in 1966. They state that “ES” meant “Enter Special” to denote a special order – in 1966.

On the OP's guitar: who the heck would sell (let alone buy) a 1966 Strat on just those three crappy pics in the ad..?

I fully agree - I'd want a full set of autopsy pictures before going near it.
Three crappy photos is not enough.

The pictures are enough to tell that the neck is faked, leaving me to doubt the rest.

The "aging" on the back of the pick guard is way to much! It looks like it was left in a sauna.

Actually... Thats a real 66.

I just rebuilt 2

ES is the assemblers initials in 1966 they stamped them in the body I recognized that so I translated the page.

Here you go

Fender Stratocaster selling 1966 original, refinished in Red ... fiesta sale locally on Reunion Island. (No shipping) Contact email for more exchange infos..Pas ... I will not respond to wacky propositions. Curious, testers, refrain ..

The body looks just like a refinished 66 I just fitted a new neck to it.

He sold the neck.

Also his pickguard looked exactly like that.

Here are some pictures of his other 66
this is after we removed the enamel white that had been sprayed over it.

here is a photo shop one he did of it

Anyway to bad that guy refinished it as I see its not been routed for a humbucker both his bodies have been.

the white one as you can guess has an aftermarket pickguard and knobs the pickups are Texas Specials. Only one pickups was left intact on the white one it had been routed and had a vintage Dimarzio Super distortion and SDS 1 the middle pickups was a 66 and 1 tone pot was original. He sold the pickup neck and tone pot.

The sunburst is all original and intact it has a 66 pickguard.

It was also on both the ones I have worked on I believed it was the assemblers initials but you may be right. Either way I have seen that before.

The neck is definitely not a '66, or a Fender for that matter. The twelfth fret dot spacing is wrong for any Fender.

Yeah now that you pointed that out its different than his neck in my pics isn't it? That pickguard is looking real and the body but who can really tell from those pics I guess. The thread title caught my eye because I take care of his 66. The ES thing I mean that could be faked too I guess.
