Hi,
I am looking to buy/build a Strat and need some help. After 40 years on Strats and other Fenders, my ideal guitar would be:
single coil only routing
light weight body
Sperzel or Schaller locking tuners
bone nut or roller if spacing is acceptable
trem that I can lock down (block), but still use
Lace Sensor Holy Grail pups or similar
passive circuitry
9.5" - 12" neck radius
Thinnish "C" or light "V" neck contour
22 frets
Maple or rosewook fretboard (prefer maple slightly)
Satin neck finish
Med. jumbo frets (thin frets OK too)
nitro finish would be icing

The Strat Plus seems to be the closest option, but opinions anyone?
Don't like Fender Noiseless pups and already have a Strat with higher than vintage output (Mex with ceramic pups)

Put another way, for each of these models
Fender Strat Plus
Fender American Series Strat
Fender Powerhouse Strat (yeah I know it is active, noiseless - I would toss that)

I need these specs:
String spacing at bridge and/or nut
Maple Neck Radius
pickup routing (Swimming pool, etc.)

If all of these have swim routing, then what is a not too expensive alternative body I could use?

Also, on the Strat Plus, can the two point tremolo be locked down? I play pedal steel licks and cannot deal with one string d-tuning when you stretch another one.

thanks

To solve the problem of your tremolo "d-tuning" you need somthing called a Tremsetter by HipShot. It is like a replacement for the spring on the tremolo. They have been around for years can be used to stablize or lock the tremolo (yet you will still be able use it).
Good Luck!

How do you know this is exaclty what will enhance your great playing and style?

If your serious, go to a REAL LUTHIER...and you'll end up paying the same as you would to write Fender and get a Custom Fender....

Why play with building when the purpose is to play the guitar. I find it difficult to believe that there is NOT a Fender already available which will suit your needs....you can custom order and get a Fender which is engeneered properly...not in some sproatic this is better than that nonsense...

Want a Fender, but a Fender...want a Fender mutt?

There are some guys on Ebay that build them the way you want....
