Just messing around in the studio and pulled my #1 and #2 stratocasters out for some photos

#1 Limited run 2004 50th anniversary AMSE as they were called
#2 a sweet 1996 MIM that has worn in to perfection and a little modded 8)

Until very recently, I owned a beautiful 2004 50th Anniversary Am. Series Strat. They are wonderful guitars all around. Everything from the pickups to the neck is just perfect. The two-color sunburst ash body is one of the best I have ever seen. I also love how the guitar looks in the gold lined case.

I will say that I didn't like that the scratch plate color darkened to a caramel color.

I recently traded this (and a PRS McCarty) for an equally beautiful, and wonderful playing and sounding '75 Strat.

Very nice! I get the feeling that is a little tribute to Clapton with Blackie and Brownie lol.

I was gonna say Clapton would be proud, but my music tastes are so varied that I hate to pay too much tribute to any one player.

The Strat and the Tele are my axes of choice for sure.
Two tone burst / Black / natural / Surf Green / blond / dude I wouldn't toss any of em out !
I am pretty partial to maple boards 8)

My tastes have changed over the years. I started out playing a Telecaster. Then moved to a Strat Plus with rosewood finger board. I was all about the warmth of rosewood, and didn't like the thick finish on maple necks.

Eventually, I moved over to maple necked Strats. I really liked the, "snap" I got from my 50th Anniversary and '00 Clapton Strats.

Now I'm back with rosewood. Actually, I use both. My current Tele (Andy Summers inspired) and '76 Strat, both have maple necks.

The one thing I did know is that I just don't get into modern Gibson guitars. They are great, but not for me.

Well you opened it up...The guitar below I've had since late 82 and it too needs a re-fret or at least a good fret leveling and polish, but it is the best Strat I own tone wise.

Nice T2
Man I've been looking for one of those guitar stand signs from fender forever !
I had one of the very first HWY 1 strats in 2002 that was a blond with rosewood, sold that guitar and have missed it since the day it left.
There was something about those early Highway guitars !

Nice looking 50th Anniversary Strats, guys. I have always had a thing for Black Strats too, so you hit two of my favorites, blues bondsman.

I also can't resist Strats with the classic car finish colors. Surf/Sea Foam Green and Sonic Blue always get me. :)

Yep, those stand/signs are tres cool. I got that so far back I don't remember when...late 80's I think.

I also agree with you about the first version/early HWY 1 Strats. A buddy has a blond one with maple neck and the neck on that thing was so smooth and easy to play! Great tone too! I always keep my eye out for one.

John.bohn...damn nice photos of some purty geetars. I would love a nice surf green 50's classic...another one on my keep and eye out for list!

I would also have no problem owning a Shell Pink Strat. The Shell Pink American Vintage '56 has been calling to me all year. The Shell Pink and the transparent Aged White Blonde finishes look fantastic on that guitar.
