Hey guys, I'm been looking at this awesome strat at my local music store. The strat is a 1989 Roland GC-1 model USA, is this possible that they made Roland strats in the late 80's? The body of the guitar seems aged as well with the neck, the bridge is USA and also opening it up, the pickups as well are USA Also the wood inside seem to be no "wood chipings" Just a solid USA Body If any Information about this would be awesome i would love to learn more about it. Thanks.

Fender did a Roland Ready American Standard Strat in the mid 1990s, however this model didn't lasted so long and the production was moved to Mexico a couple of years later.

The first Strat-shaped Roland G505 and G202 guitar synths came out from the Fujigen factory in 1982. Eric Clapton purchased his red G505 in late 1983 and toured with it for nearly 2 years.

Mike Rutherford had a blue G202 which has been modified with the tremolo bridge from a G505.

That sounds about right ... and if memory serves the first ever Roland ready guitar for use with synth modules was produced in the late 70's, possibly 77 or 78. It was shaped like a Les Paul and the regular neck pickup was replaced with the Roland pickup which was about 50% larger than a stocker. It was fugly.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Interesting clue, those vintage Roland guitar synths featured the infamous 24-pin monster and not the modern-day standard 13-pin DIN cable.

Throughout the years Roland developed a special 13-pin adapter allowing the compatibility of older 24-pin equipped synth guitars with most modern floor pedals.

Thank you so much for the reply's, and yes, this guitar does have a 24 pin monster. The question is now, what is it worth?
