I do not like the PU selector switch. I use neck and mid but quite often will knock the switch down to just mid.

coudn't you wire the 5-way switch backwards so the neck pick up would be selected when the switch is in the generic bridge position?..and sorry but didn't know how u guys get the quote box thing that i see all the time..so ihad to improvise

I can't remember who did it but people have been known to flip the five way so it's backwards that way if you hit it, it stays in the neck position.

I use the volume knob when playing at times and have no problem with it.

I would not say love or hate because it's not that big of a deal. I use it. It's fine.

you can actually get some special effects with the volume knob
turn it fully off
while playing control the volumn knob with your little finger
you can get some violin type of sound

when you are playing with amplifier feedback
just the volume knob and tremolo alone can make wonders
you don't even to pick a note

Whats your opinions bout the Volume Knob on Strats? Personally i hate it and when i had my Squier Deluxe i removed it. Its just in the way

Stratocaster - I love the guitar but hate the volume knob

I'm addicted to my volume knobs on my strats. Between those and the tone pots, it's soooo easy just to set the amp up with a creamy crunch and use the volume as your dirty/clean adjustment w volume tossed into boot.

On my MIJ HM Strat I took the volume knob off and put a rubber cover over it. I think I used a carberator fitting rubber (like a condom) over the volume stem which kept it from turning while playing but still allowed you to adjust it directly. The rubber stem cover also kept the stem from cutting you hand when you hit it during your Who strumming phase

Volume knob is useful (obviously) but it is sort of in the way. I'm getting used to it, but it'd still be nice to (eventually) buy a pickguard blank and route it for a master vol and master tone and place the vol between where the old vol and first tone is on a normal strat, if you get me. Hardly essential, tho :)
