Hi I'm looking at buying a fender mim Stratocaster. I'm planning on changing the pickups, I was wondering what pickups would be best for classic rock and modern country? Thanks

Hey no problem. We can answer that question. We've tackled tougher questions. Why just last week somebody asked, "Why is a duck?"

Seriously, you ask a question like that you're going to get as many answer as respondents.
I am one respondent so here's my one answer. Fender Fat 50s.

Well a strat is a good pick to cover classic rock and country. Pickups are a matter of preference, even the stock pickups would do the job.

Hi jfk,

+1 for the Fat '50s, they are great, and one of the three that I was going to recommend also. Best "bang-for-buck" would be Tex-Mex, they are half the price of other sets but have fantastic sounds. One other set to consider would be Texas Specials.

Most likely the stock pickups in that MIM won't be any kind of limitation to expressing yourself via classic rock and modern country. Provided they are in normal working condition.

(And a duck is because otherwise you get hit.)

Just don't step on a duck, it smells awful.

i might be replying here a bit late but I just installed a loaded pickguard on my 96 MIM strat. Fat 50's and pots and wiring upgrade as well. Night and Day difference. You won't be sorry.

if you're looking for great sounding budget pups, check out Tone Riders. I got the Pure Vintage set. IMO they're very good, sound wise & quality wise.
