Thanks. I bought this guitar last week as a bit of a project. Its quite rough, got a few chips and scratches. Its got a system one but all the fine tuning screws are missing, and the pickguard doesn't seem to be the right one to me. Don't get me wrong,I am a complete novice and just learning guitar, but I wanted something decent to learn on an in spite of its looks and the missing bits,it's also missing a tremolo arm,its sounds beautiful and feels very comfortable to play. And it was very cheap. Also,I do apologise,I joined this forum yesterday and have yet to introduce myself. My name is Sam, pleased to be here.

The problem with Chandler may be that you can't send the old pickguard as a model if it doesn't fit...

On this Warmoth Page you can print out the pickguard outlines to check if the screw holes match. Order a pickguard without pickup holes & DIY.

Or, depending on how you want the guitar to turn out (full originality vs. modified according to need), fill (dowel) the holes that don't line up and drill new ones.

Were you able to diagnose the guitar's model on the Blackman MIJ/CIJ pages info?

No,just by comparing what I've got to several dozen posts and replies on this forum. Have sent serial number to fender customer service for any info but no reply yet.

Also,I don't think the pickups are original but there are no identifying marks so I will have to get back to the guy I bought it from and ask him if he knows. I'm not good on computers but when my partner gets back from work,I'll take a few pic s and post them up,see what you guys think?

You probably won't get much help from Fender Customer Relations - they don't have archives on 80's Japanese instruments.

If the guitar is modded, the exact model may remain a mystery - many had the System1.
But take a lot of pics (the whole guitar from all angles, lots of close ups, neck pocket & neck heel, under the pickguard, wiring and pickups) - usually someone in the forum has at least some answers.
