Well I just wanted an opinion about SRV strat and was curios about any other guitar that can offer more in terms of quality( sound, components) for a similar price.
Don't really want to buy a guitar and straight away modify it. I don't know but from my point of view modifying a guitar kind of takes away some of it's mojo but that's just a matter of taste (considering the fact that you need a luthier that can actually make the modification sound good.... I'm not willing to modify the guitar myself because of the fact that I don't want to risk the guitar  ).
Yeah Thoman was the dealer I was thinking :o .( and yes 2300 is kind of the standard price in Europe if not higher in some places).
And about the fact that you don't need a special strat to sound like SRV for me is kind of a cliche.
I don't think a good strat can lower you're chances to get a good tone... if anything it helps. Plus you need to be a master guitarist to sound THAT good with a bad instrument.... and I know perfectly well I'm not one. Guys that generally say those types of old cliche's are either not considering the fact that not everybody is that good or they just like to point out the obvious. Another thing is that it's kinda offensive to hear some people say that ... well you don't need anything special to sound like Stevie ... you just have to play like Stevie and you will sound like him regardless of the guitar (like they actually did it  ).
Playing like Stevie is a small and realistic objective  ... .As I see it, you can never play like SRV , I'm not even touching the matter of improvising like him, but you can at least get the sound right with a good instrument.

Woa, no need to go ballistic, these are all just opinions...

IMHO, no. The signal chain is not just the instrument. Sorry if it's a cliche, but it's also true.

Like I said, I don't have an opinion on how you should spend your money.
If you feel you can't get where you want to go without a SRV Strat, then you just gotta have one.
(Mind you, I've had GAS myself, and tried to justify it with "facts".)

Edit: Others have suggested trying the guitar before buying it, I strongly support this. The left handed trem alone is not for everybody, plus the neck is fatsy, the radius 12"...

I would get one in my hands to see if the feel was good for me. If OK, then I would buy it. They are a very nice guitar. As good as any other. Not being a high plane intellectual, I think buying a SRV guitar is the most logical step to obtaining his sound. Next, modded Vibroverb amp. :D

Get the SRV they are great guitars. Stevie used many diff amps and played very loud. Im on your side I see no sense in buying a good guitar and then modding the crap out of it. You will spend close to the same money anyway if you have to have someone do it all. I hope you get it and play it like they were ment to be played. Loud and Hard :D

I was just curios. I want to buy a brand new strat and I really got enthusiastic about the SRV strat. Is buying a new SRV strat worth it ? A dealer close to my country is offering a brand new one for 2330 $!(Really want a brand new one so a second hand is not an option.)
Are there any other strats that can offer the SRV tone much like the signature model?
Are there other strats around 2300$ that can offer more in terms of quality?

The SRV Strat is a very nice guitar.
Why do you want or need the SRV?
If you're looking to get near SRV's tone, then you need to look at his whole rig, which includes the amps and pedals.
A classic single coil Strat has every potential to get you near SRV's tone if you also get the right amp.

Make sure you check the specs on the SRV to make sure it's what you want, especially if you can't get a chance to actually play one.
It has a "thick oval" neck so it's not like modern "modern C" shape necks.

Also, it has a 12" radius, which is a flatter fret board compared to the more common 9.5" radius, which is rounder. The Eric Johnson Strat is also a 12" radius neck, but it's a "soft V" in shape.
A 12" radius is considered a "faster" fret board as it's flatter.
Some players prefer a flatter neck, I do, but I also like regular rounder 9.5" Strat neck too. I like flatter fret boards as it's smoother for solo playing and for bending.
A rounder profile is easier for chording.
12" is more like a Les Paul radius.
My Schecter C1 Classic has 14" radius and it's great for solo work, though the fret board is noticeably wider than my Strat.

This is why you really need to play the guitar you want so that you know how it feels in your hands. If you already have experienced with a thicker and flatter Strat neck, then you likely already know what it should feel like.
I bought a Les Paul Standard last year as I've always wanted one only to discover that I don't like their necks and the lack of upper fret access. I did get to play it before I bought it and it felt ok while playing it at the store, but once I got it home and had time to really feel it I didn't like it.
Beautiful guitar and sweet HB tones, but I didn't like playing it so it went back.

The Strat I'm looking at is the American Deluxe Ash in aged cherry burst.
That is one gorgeous Strat!
And it has a compound radius fret board going from 9.5" to 14", with medium jumb frets. Nice. :)
All it needs is an LSR nut to make it complete.

I don't care to mod guitars either. I did change pickguard and tuners on my 79 Strat when I bought it new - for looks and tuning. My other three guitars I have left stock - no problems with the stock parts but I can't say I would never do it if something was flawed.
Although I don't intend to sell, I doubt that my heirs lol will get top dollar with the mods.

When I first played my EC Strat in the store it sounded great even with a crappy amp - it sounded like the record which actually surprised me. It took a year to save up for it but I eventually bought that guitar. The tone and ease of playing actually inspired me and improved my playing (I'm no shredder and will never play like EC but I play better).

An SRV Strat will sound good - maybe not exactly like Texas Flood but it will be good.
