Finally finished building my own Strat. First got the idea in about march .I left the wood unfinised for now as it still needs some sanding to the neck and body.
Its a bit rustic but I'm happy with the way it plays. No fret buzz which was a surprise.

That's a cool guitar 8)
Best to get that body sealed.... the sooner the better... theres's a thread already going about DIY finish shenanigans... may want to scope it.
Enjoy your guitar!

Thanks , I'll have a look for that thread.
I just couldn't wait to put it together to see how it worked :) .
I'd like to do a sunburst but its difficult to do without spraying so I'll probably do a wipe on oil finish.

Congrats, the guitar looks nice.

In the good old days, sunburst was hand rubbed, check the video: Sunbursting or google "hand rubbed sunburst".
But whatever method you choose, practice (all tools, methods, stains, lacquers, paints, oils etc.) on scrap wood before you start with the guitar.

I understand what your saying but I didn't know else to call it. I just thought it might be of interest.
I've tried to make it clear that I built it which took a long time and a lot of work.
I do own two real strats , a squire and a 60th anniversary commemorative.
I just like building stuff .I wanted to learn how guitars are put together and I really enjoyed making this . I am planning to come up with my own design which I won't be able to put on here.
Heres some pictures

heres my real one :)

Very impressive!! Lots of us have "made" franken strats which means (in my case anyway) stripping/refin the body, buy a Warmoth neck etc. What you did gives you major bragging rights. Bravo lad.

Yeah I agree, lots of people have made partscasters, and lots of people have made a body to bolt on a pre-made neck. But few have actually made the neck itself. That's killer! How does the neck feel, and how would compare it (the neck) to your actual Fenders?
