Hi,

I was about to order a Callaham 2 1/16 upgrade bridge knowing that I have a MIM Strat when my guts told me 'measure the thing before ordering' and I found out that it came with a 2 7/32 screw/string spacing!

Is this a known case?

Cheers

Hi,
please make sure to distinguish between string spacing and post spacing, the first being the distance between the two E strings, the second the distance of the outer mounting screws.
You should retrieve the correct dimensions for your guitar starting from the exact model.

Hi Alberto,

The outer screws axis and the string spacing is 2 7/32" (56mm)

Cheers

Typically, for Fender bridges, the string spacing and the screw spacing are the same. Callaham, and maybe others, make bridges that have 2-7/32" mounting spacing and 2-1/16" string spacing, but there are no stock Fender bridges like this.

It used to be true that MIM always meant 2-1/16" mounting and string spacing for the six-screw bridge, but that is not always the case these days as there are several MIM models that have the 2-7/32" spacing on the six-screw bridge (Classic series '50s and '60s, Road Worn '50s and '60s, as examples). Any Fender two-point bridge will be 2-1/16" spacing, six-screw bridges are 2-7/32" for MIA, and the spacing can be either 2-1/16" or 2-7/32" for MIM, depending on make/model.

Always wise to measure twice and order once.

Hi all,

Just to illustrate the case, here are some pictures:

Image
As can be seen, this is a MIM Standard HSS Strat

Image
But the bridge measures 56mm (2 7/32")

Image
Here in inches with a tape measure, is not perfect, but it's clearly a 2 7/32"

My question is, is this a known occurrence?

Cheers

Actually the stock Highway one ( 2006 and later) and American Specials use this Hybrid bridge
