Is there anybody out there who likes this? Most reviews I've read about it are negative. I recently acquired an HSS with one and for the most part am simply confused by it. I mean, I get what it does, technically, but it seems like the guitar and amp and pedals all have to be configured around it. Let's say I'm playing and am controlling volume via the volume knob on the guitar. If I hit the passing lane button, I now have an exorbitantly loud volume AND no tone controls whatsoever. It would seem that the only way to use this "tool" is to always have the guitar volume maxed and try to be playing somewhere tonally along the lines of what you get when you hit the button. gnome sayin'? or am I just stupid and don't know how to use it?

I tried it and the guy beside me honked at me and made finger gestures for at least 2 miles after. I honestly don't think it works.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Hi steven7todd,

I like it! There is a little extra.....crispness/crunch/treble when using the switch, and after using it, I'm hooked. It is a little difficult to get used to, turning down the volume and forgetting that the switch is engaged, then scrambling to disengage the switch, might take some practice. The best part is that you can leave the selector switch, in say the neck position, and the volume knob turned down for some cleaner playing, and then push the button and instantly switch to the hum-bucker for distortion and volume. It's kind of like having a pedal built in....sort of. To me, using the passing-lane switch is easier than using both the volume knob and pup selector switch to go back and forth from clean to distortion.

Por favor, disculpe mi español, no se llega a la práctica con mucha frecuencia.

I like my Am Dlx HSS, but I never use the passing lane switch. If I need boost for a solo, I'll use a clean boost pedal that's set for the right amount of boost and just switch pups. I never seem to need wide open bridge humbucker. Who know, maybe I'll find a song it works for, some day.
