I just bought a used I think 2006 year mim strat, where the truss rod hole is where I though should be is a solid wooden plug. The other mim strats I've seen have a plastic outer casing to where you can get to the truss rod. This one is just completely plugged. Anybody know why this is like that? I can't figure out how to add images.

For images... need photobucket or something like it to host the pics... paste IMG tag into posts and Blam-O... pic city..

I'm not up on every single MIM model that's out there... but it sounds like a "Vintage" model Mexi... truss adjust is at the heal..

Thanks for the input. I'll research that. I'm not up on many electric guitars. I've pretty much played acoustic 98% of my playing time. Thanks!

It does have the truss rod adjustment at the heel, also the pickups and knobs look like a faded off white. The maple neck is a tinted color and the tuning machines look like old school machines compared to new strats. I got the guitar for $279.99 at a local guitar center. Try didn't say anything about being a "vintage" model. all I know is that it played as good as some of the mia strats I played. Does anybody know if the vintage mim strat from 2006 was priced any different than a regular plain mim strat? Sorry for the ignorance :)

Indeed, it is probably a Classic Series 50s, Maple Neck, pickguard has 8 holes.

There is no "vintage" MIM model. Your description sounds like a "Classic Series '50s" Strat, and yes, new those cost more than a Standard, around $800 US.

Awesome! It plays like a dream. I guess being nearly mint condition and only paying $279.99 makes it even better. I guess GC thought it was a regular mim standard. From the reading that I've done on the classic 50's it seems to be a really swell guitar. Thanks for all of the help everybody.

From what I've read, the Classic series 50's strat has the 6 point trem and the classic player 50's strat has the 2 point trem. It's really confusing naming two guitars almost the same name. I also think that the classic series has a 7.25 radius while the classic player has a 9.25 radius. I really don't know, I'm just extremely happy with the guitar, especially for $279.99!

It's a Classic Player Strat, and you've done really well at the price.
The Classic Players are really nice guitars, with decent feel and playability, and with good electronics too.

You got a steal for that price!!! IMHO classic player series is in the league of american special series, vintage look with modern features like neck radius, fret wire size, tremolo, and with good pickups too.
Two years ago I was looking for a strat with rosewood fretboard I fell in love with a CP 60 strat...I eventually bought an american standard 2012 for the same price...
If I remember well the CP 50 has a special switch circuitation that differs from classic strat 5 way switch,
    Am I wrong???
