Afternoon was wondering if anyone could offer some advice on the best way of selling my guitar, it's in good condition with all the original fixtures and fittings, it belonged to my late father but I don't play so I have taken the decision (reluctantly) to sell. Many thanks!!

First of all you should post some pictures here this will help out
If this is an original 61 strat in good shape it can bring in up to and maybe more than $25000 dollars US, depending on what a buyer will spend, have a look at reverb https://reverb.com/item/2479-1961-fender-stratocaster this might help, could be a starting point.

Is it the same 1961 Strat as in your previous posts: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=85724&p=965586#p965586

The conflict between "good condition with all the original fixtures and fittings" and "my uncle once saw fit to strip it and take a tin of black friar varnish to it" is a factor that may affect the price level significantly.
Please, post pics - instructions here: Nutter's Quick Start Guide

Hate to say it... but... if the original finish has indeed been stripped... the value of that guitar has significantly been F$%ked.
Just being honest...

If it were to be professionally refinished, the value would be about half of what an original would bring. That is, about $10K, assuming there aren't any other problems or missing parts.

As it is, with some home varnishing, it is worth quite a bit less than half.

Doesn't look good from here!
Why is there a "button" string tree on it?
Why is the front of the headstock so defaced?
Why are the strap buttons black?

The guitar needs taking apart and examining and photographing in detail to find out just how genuine the parts are.
Just because the hardware is corroded and dirty doesn't make it from the 1960s - any counterfeiter can do that.
Same with the pickguard and pickup covers.

If it is a genuine early '60s strat then its value is low, just because of the state it's in, which is a real shame!

Plus, the refinish color doesn't seem right for any of the 1961 colors - of course, this may be just the lighting in the pics.

The finish on the back of the neck looks to be in remarkable condition considering the wear damage on the headstock.
It looks as though someone is trying to make something appear to be something it's not.

Just to prove a point have a look at the 1960 Strat listed on Gruhn's site http://guitars.com/inventory/ef8606-196 ... ratocaster
