G'day MB, yeah I'm not really sure about the oil/poly combination.
I'm currently treating a rough chainsaw carving with boiled linseed. It's taking forever to dry. Good luck with the guitar. Post some pics.

Hi guys, i used the boiled linseed oil to wet sand the body as it did help to pop the grain, similar to french polishing.

Slapped on some minwax wipe on poly (gloss) but the end grain especially at the sides and near the curve of the body to the sides is not soaking up the poly but its building up very nicely on the body itself.

Any tips on this ?

G'day, I'd just keep applying the poly where it's most needed with VERY fine sanding in between. I'm not sure how the oil will have affected the job, but you need to impregnate the Poly on a microscopic level for a good shine. The wipe on stuff seems like an OK way to do it. You need some 1000/1500/2000 grit paper. Patience mate. You want a result that you'll always be happy with. It will be worth the effort.
