sonny wolf, how about posting some pics of your 2 54's, it would be great to see how these are aging, I've had my 56' since April, but it's been babied, so it still looks pretty much like new.

I own two 1954 reissue Strats like yours with the bakelite knobs and mine have cracked as well.I simply glued them back together with super glue and they are back on the guitar and function perfectly. These 1954 reissue really relic fast....the finish is extremely delicate and is chipping and flaking quite a bit(which looks cool in my opinion). So the cracked knobs don't bother me since the whole guitar is relic'ing anyways.

I did the same with my '54 AV 60th Anniversary. The super glue worked fine but then another crack sprang up on the tone knob. I super glued it again. Yet a third crack developed in the same tone knob! It's all glued now and seems to be holding fine. Today I received my order of '54 plastic parts (includes all but the pickguard). It's a purdy steep set of parts at 50 clams. I like the relic'd look of the original repaired triple-crack tone knob so I'm leaving it on and holding the parts for piece of mind - they package 'em nicely with Fender's '50's graphic style. In addition, I don't know how long they'll mfg the '54 plastic. Some folks were gettin' big bux for the parts when they parted out their MB '54's from the 50th anniversary. Before I knew these parts were available, I figured I'd have to lean on a friend with a 3-D printer to get a replacement tone knob made. You'd have to have one with a good laser scanner. -Marty
