I just happen to split the tone knob from my 60th Anniversary American Vintage 1954 Stratocaster in half while removing it. There weren't kidding when they said that the polystyrene control knobs were fragile. Will Fender start selling parts for the 60th Anniversary American Vintage 1954 Stratocaster? So far these knobs are no where to be found. Thanks.

From the link below, I understood Fender acknowledges the problem ("bakelite" knobs on 60th Anni Strats breaking in normal use), and apparently replacement knobs are covered by warranty:

I have the same problem with a tone knob on the 60th Anniversary American Vintage Stratocaster ordered new at Guitar Center arriving with a major crack. I have not been able to get the knob replaced by Fender. I purchased the guitar new at Guitar Center two months ago. The sales man at GC immediately called and emailed Fender. They never responded. If you've had any luck getting the knob replaced, I'd like to know how.

Fender is selling them, right off this page, go to the top, click products, click gear, then electric guitar/parts then knobs, they are part of the pure vintage 60th anniversary 1954 parts kit, and cost $49.99 for all the parts together as a kit. Seems as this is a common problem with the 60th 54's Fender would replace them, but you know how that can go.

No problem Marty, how do you find the 60th compared to your 50th?

Quite comparable. I love 'em both. The MB 50th is a bit lighter in weight - a plus there, however I like that the 60th doesn't have any printing on the back of the headstock. The neck profiles are very much the same and are my favorite feature as I'm one with long fingers and play with my thumb around the neck most of the time. I like the American Vintage series so much I also acquired the AV '56 (love the slight V in the neck) and the AV '59 in sonic blue.

I ordered the knobs and pickup covers. I gig with these guitars often and it'll be nice to have spare plastic being that it's so brittle. Thanks again for the tip.

Glad to help, I love the new American vintage series, back in April I also bought the blonde 56'(had to have the ash body) it has to be one of the best strats I've played period, I was at the store to look at the 60th 54', picked up this 56' and that was it, light weight, booms like a cannon unplugged, and yes, that v-neck is great, the new thin flash coat lacquer feels like a vintage Fender should, walked out with it without a second thought. Which 56' did you get?

I got the sunburst. I didn't realize they had a blonde ash version. That's a nice way to go to get that light weight and the blonde looks great. In what application are you using it?

I'm just a home player Marty, I play it through my Fender cs 57' Deluxe(has all NOS RCA tubes) with a few effects, Strymon bluesky reverb, Barber tonepress, and sometimes a Timmy od. Heres a pic of my blonde 56'Image

Beeautiful! Those cs Deluxes are nice too. I got an actual '51 TV front Deluxe a couple of years ago. It sounds great and I figured it was an affordable way to get a piece of early Fender history.

I own two 1954 reissue Strats like yours with the bakelite knobs and mine have cracked as well.I simply glued them back together with super glue and they are back on the guitar and function perfectly. These 1954 reissue really relic fast....the finish is extremely delicate and is chipping and flaking quite a bit(which looks cool in my opinion). So the cracked knobs don't bother me since the whole guitar is relic'ing anyways.
