Yesterday I had two 60 years old Fender-ladies visiting me in fabulous shape (Mississippi Swamp Ash make-up), so for the 60th. anniversary of a wonderful guitar I was surrounded by 120 years of combined awesomeness! :D

Happy Birthday Fender Stratocaster!!!

Great video.. is that a H&K amp you are playing through? I've always wanted one.

I used a H&K Tubemeister 36W 1x12 Combo.

Hi there,
That was a pretty astonishing video. Great playing stile and wonderful tones.
Thanks for sharing!
May I ask you which effects did you use in the loop, if any? (Delay, compression...)
Do they contribute a lot to the overall sound?
I'm actually blown away by the clean sound of "Juliette", especially the first cords you play, it is the monster tone i'm looking for from my strats...I'm not even close yet!

One more thoughts: It would be very interesting to compare one of those wonderful instruments with a modern one in order to have a side by side comparison with the same setup and playing style, what do you think?

Alberto

I really liked your videos. I appreciated the fact that you made it clear that one is not better than the other, just different. I will say that I liked 2nd one better. The first did have a nice round sound, but I really like that twang and clarity of the 2nd Strat.

I currently own two '70s era Strats, a '75 3-color-sunburst w/ rosewood finger board and a '76 w/ maple finger board, which sound different from each other. This is partially due to the fact that I shielded the '76. It has a much rounded sound, where as the '75 has a more traditional Strat sound.

Here's a quick video of the '75 Strat. I'm not really playing anything, just going through the pickup selections.

Great demo. Thanks for sharing.

I know exactly what you mean about playing two different guitars and how each one will inspire you to play in a certain way. And I could definitely hear it in your playing.

By the way, who were they named after? Who was Anne and Juliet? Did their names end up fitting with how you felt about the guitars?

The grains on both of the guitars are gorgeous. Does Fender ever make 2TSB strats using Mississippi swamp ash anymore? Even in the Custom Shop?

Great video! Like someone else said, I'd be really keen to see a similar comparison done between Anne and a brand new 60th Anniversary strat, or with a 50's re-issue.
The tones on both of those '54's are amazing but I seem to like Anne's more agressive tone more.
I was a bit puzzled when he said the pickups were different though. I thought, both being the same year and model, that they would have the same pickups. Is it because during the early 50's the pickups were hand-wound, therefor each pickup was never an exact copy of the last? Not sure what he means that's all.
:D

Yes, the pups would be slightly different... hand wound... they were still in the early stages in those days... refining all their methods... he also mentions that even the necks have variation in radius... everything done by hand and still being perfected.
Man... those Ash bodies are stunning! Amazing tones from BOTH those sweet guitars!
Honestly... I can't say I like one better than the other... they both shine bright...

Great demo of two fine Vintage Stratocasters... Thank You :)
