Hi, I have recently changed the pick ups on my MIM Strat for the standard Dave Gilmour (SSL5, Fat 50,69). They sound great but I now have terrible resonance mainly from the D and G strings when using any amount of distortion and it makes it almost unplayable.
Never had this problem with the standard issue pick ups it came with, anyone have any ideas? I'm at a loss,
Cheers,
Gary. :(

Hi Nobbyhawk,

Have you tried adjusting the pup height? Maybe they are too close to the strings?

Hi,
Yeah tried that no luck. I get a change in volume the further from the strings they are but no change to the problem,
Thanks anyway for the idea,
Cheers.

Interesting... does sound like a pup height issue.. did you do anything else to the guitar when changing the pups...
ie; change the bridge adjustments... swap out saddles... shim the neck etc..?

What kind of amp? Maybe it just isn't capable of handling decent pups and distortion. :?:
