If you spent more time playing your guitar, rather than posting 3120 times, you may be the player you always wanted to be.

I'm of the persuasion that if it's your guitar--modify or don't modify according to what you want--but I would advise to do it wisely, and consider your options and why you're dong it.

And if you're buying it--and you like the humbucker on the Strat better--then get it--it's your guitar.

But I did express the opinion that if I bought a Strat I would get all single coils. If I ever buy one it will be to get that classic Strat sound. But for now, when I want single coils I tend to sue my Mustang. I like the sound, and to me it's a great sound--so for that reason I don't get why people want to swap the pickups--although this applies to a made in USA Mustang, not the current variety. My opinion might be different on those. I don't know--I've never tried one. Still if you have an older Mustang and you want to change the pickups--go ahead. Just because I don't get why you're doing it doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't do it--it just means I don't get it.

Hey cryingstrat, you are the one saying that"it's not a Strat anymore". I guess you know more about Fender Stratocasters than the manufacturer. All I am saying is that the best thing about it is it can be whatever the OWNER OF THE GUITAR WANTS!! Thats all.
Buy the way, I don't own a horse. I own 8 Strats.

I don't care how many strats you own, or have owned. I said all that and made sure it was clear that it was my opinion and everyone else was free to feel differently. I never said I know more then Fender. I even said I tried a humbucker in a mexi strat of mine once. I have nothing to apologise for. Some people like the strat just the way it is and think it shouldn't be messed with, some don't. Big deal. Ya know, I'd understand your rant if I had put someone down, but I didn't. My exact line was:

"But that's just me. If someone wants to do it and loves the results, who am I to say their wrong?"

I don't know what else to tell ya. Maybe you're just looking for a fight, I don't know. I actually don't care what you do to your strats. But I'm not gonna be intimidated into not saying what I think about them.

Have a very Brady day!

And you base that knowledge on what? LOL. You really need to stop this. There's just no reason for it.

Hey man...there's no need for that.

You like your strat the way it is...that's fine.

Other people have their own opinions. It's not like they're playing your guitars, and vice-versa.

Mine (and yes, I started this thread) is that a Strat isn't a Gibson, it'll never have the throaty sound of the Gibson. And, that those single coils, stock, are vastly, vastly underrated. That's MY opinion, and I came to that conclusion after years and years of trying to make a strat sound like "something else".

And, yes, I'm entitled to my opinion.

But you know something?

I don't have to crap on other people to get my point across.

Have a nice day...

Makes sense to me. Each was designed for that purpose.

Strats have just evoled to variants of its original self now it is a multi trick pony of different breeds sharing the same Grandma.

How do the Texas Specials pu fit into this discussion? I just got one of the new Deluxe Roadhouse strat and don't really have anything to compare to on the pu's. They seem similar to my Tele.

I have both an HSS and SSS. They both have different sounds once you get away from the neck pups. I happen to enjoy the HSS tone more when I get to play in the bridge or phased bridge and middle pups.

heres my two cents worth on this.

I wanted Humbucker sounds and so I bought a gibson Les Paul studio and hated the feel of the guitar, went on to an SG (closer in style and weight to a strat) and still could not love the neck.

so what is a dyed in the wool Strat boy to do ?????

I do have a cheap P90's guitar with a Fender style neck that has helped bridge the tone thing.

to get to the point I have yet to find the Fender guitar with a bucker that sounds good (To Me) please dont get bent on this its my opinion only and they dont make a gibson that feels right (to ME), I even tried a flying V.

Whats a poor boy to do ?????

I wonder how an HH strat sounds ?????
