Apologise if this has been discussed many times.

I have a 1990 Fender Strat, purchased new in 1990 - the rosewood neck was swapped for a maple one when purchased. Body is cream. Not sure of serial no. but receipt has this number on it - '5S 671 - 240' which may be a receipt number. It's in very good condition.

I would be grateful for any advice re. valuing this guitar. I'd like to sell it and buy a Tele which is more appropriate for my playing.

Thank you : )

In 1990 Strats were made in numerous different series and all over the world. The resale price is highly dependant on those, among with several other factors, including the area where you live. An estimate based on the info you gave is somewhere between $100 and $3000, error margin 'round 50%...

Post pics (every angle, plus close ups, plus under the pickguard, plus the neck pocket) to get any real help.

Thanks for your help. I bought the guitar in London, UK for 425 UKP (around $650) so that might give a guide. I'll upload some pix.

Here are some pix - and of course the serial no is plain to see - on the head - E909654 - I should have taken it out of the case! I haven't taken off the scratch plate etc. at this stage.

Here are the pix - couldn't quite work out how to upload to this site:

Thanks in advance.

Looks like a 1989/Early 1990 American Standard. That guitar in the USA will sell for anywhere between 5-800 depending on condition. Yours seems to be in good shape so I would value it at 7-800 dollars.

Talking about 'regular' Telecasters, my votes go to Squier Classic Vibe or Mexican Fender Standard Telecaster, both very good value for the money - and especially if you buy used.
Anyway: test the guitar before you buy.

Location: In a house....unless I'm at work....then I'm in a shop.
It is worth exactly and precisely, nothing more and not one penny less them what someone is willing to pay for it.

It looks clean, what would the music store sell it for? (They would be a better judge of the local market)
