There's been quite a bit of talk on the forum about fake finishes...

...I thought it was time for a thread questioning and exposing fakes...

...The first submission is listed on ebay:

1989 USA FENDER STRAT PLUS Rare Graffiti Yellow

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1989-USA-FENDER-STRAT-PLUS-Rare-Graffiti-Yellow-/181557522919?ssPageName=ADME:SS:SS:US:1120

...pretty flawless *bright* finish...paint & sanding in the neck pocket is odd...dings are flow-filled with paint...

...What do you think...Fake or Original?

I want to thank the seller for posting great pics:

Ok I'll play. The finish is real. Besides who would fake an ugly yellow finish?

Looks good to me. Might have had a re-fret but my eye could be playing tricks.

I agree that it looks legit. The paint seems to have faded a bit, and it's not the buttercup / signal flag yellow it once was. And the pickup show physical wear, which means the previous owner might not have been a very controlled picker. And there are dings. And a pubic hair on the pickguard.
But from what I can tell, it doesn't look that bad, and it does come with a hard shell case. if you like Lace pickups (I do), I'd say go for it. I probably wouldn't go over $550, though.

It may command more than twice this. There is internet hype about graffiti yellow being rare. I see it as a Strat Plus.
