Post subject: modding a squire strat

hey i have a squire strat that my friend gave me(for free). i am thinking of puttin' in a humbucker in the bridge. plus i have a three way pickup switch (not the actual 5 way blade switich) that im thinking of using as a kill switch. what do ya think?

1. Do some research on pots. (they're not the same for humbuckers vs. single coils.)

2. I think you should spend the few bucks or so on a 5-position switch. Far more tones out of that guitar will be available.

I dunno. I never saw much use for a kill switch other than to imitate that Ace Frehley effect....

i do have the 5 way switch in it and working but i have the 3 way switch as a kill switch.

take a 5-way switch, you will have for functions (hb split ect)
check out some wiring diagrams on this site regarding wich pots are could use (500k).

if you intend to put a kill switch in id reccomend putting a whole seperate ssytem in, not useing the pickup selector as one

Just cut the signal from the ouput (hot) in half and install a push release button. When the button is up the circuit is normal when it's pushed it cuts out the sound.

also i am thinking of replacing the nut(cause the groves are really worn down and the fret out. but i might do it myself. just so u know i have read pages on doing it youtube videos and i have the tools. any thoughts?
