Hello All!

I would like to know if the 3-tone sunburst of an american standard stratocaster is exactly the same as the artist series Stevie Ray Vaughan strat.

I have seen some pictures and I have the impression that the SRV guitar has a brighter sunburst, but I could be totally wrong.

Thank you very much

There's a simple reason why you see the SRV brighter, raphaelmec06. Looking at the pics side by side, the human eye lies: 3TSB looks different with a white or a black pickguard.
But I rechecked with an image editing program - both 3TSB Strats give similar readings for colors, so I agree with St52: they're the same.
(That's actually a bit surprising, since stained wood seldom gives 100% similar results. Probably the promo pics are processed, too. )

Thank you very much guys!

I am considering buying a standard strat and buying texas special pickups and the gold hardware to make a "SRV-like standard strat"... the basic reason for this $$$... what do you think about this concept?

Thank you again!

But the 60th Anni Strat is two tone burst. Nobody can sound like SRV with one tone missing

Why do you think he did that? Also, Fender claims they collaborated withSRV shortly before his death to make the SRV Strat. Is there anyway to prove this? Do you think Fender is being honest about that claim?
Just some stuff Ive been wondering about. Sorry for taking the thread off road.

Are you asking why SRV's 'Number 1' had the reverse tremolo?
The general opinion is that it's his tribute to Jimi Hendrix.

I thought the whole upside down tremolo thing came about when he had work done to his guitar and a left hand trem was the only one kickin around at the time and was installed for a temporary repair.he ended up liking the bars position on top better....time to pull out that ouija board and get some confirmation. Sweet guitar though..I love the neck profile..hope to own one one day when I have alot of extra cash waste...

I don't think that info is accurate - although I'll always support the ideology that a good story is better than the truth.

Never installed one myself, but I believe installing a left handed trem on a right hand Strat is nowhere near a drop-in-replacement, so that "temporary repair" would have meant some woodwork on the trem cavity, among other little jobs.
