Hey everyone, I have been sitting on an old Strat for years and have never got around to playing it all that much and figured I'd like to see if I can find a ballpark value on it to see if it's worth keeping or selling. From what I can tell it's a mid 80's Japanese made Squire Stratocaster, with the original case and all original parts. It's in good condition with one minor scratch on the bottom of the body that doesn't effect sound or playability at all, serial number is SQ01888 and it has a black body with black pick guard. As soon as I can figure out you to do it, I'll include some photos but any help or value estimates you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

We need pics, exact model and condition can make a big difference in asking or selling price.

Forget the pics, just send it to ME and I will inspect
and appraise it for you in exchange for the guitar. :D

Pic posting instructions here: Nutter's Quick Start Guide

(Someone in the moderator department really oughta to make a (new?) sticky of that, the question seems to rise at least weekly...)

Tough question there... :)

The guitar is from 1983/1984 and made in FujiGen factory Japan. The SQ series (modeling 'modern' 1970's Strats) followed the JV series (modeling 'vintage' '57/'62 Strats), and the Squier line in general was targeted to compete with the Far East copy guitars.
The build quality, playability, sounds are usually great.

Still, these guitars don't score very high on price. I'd estimate $350 to $600 for a 70's styled SQ. There's one (without a case) on ebay right now, minumum bid $500, two days remaining and no bids...
Compare that to the fact that you don't play the guitar much. Like I said, tough.
