Nahh, this should be advertizing...
(Actually, I was guessing that's Danel's guitar, and wanted to verify my guess without the risk of being publicly wrong 8) )

Hi, Sorry I have come in a little late on this, but the volume knob on my new 60th Anniversary American Vintage 1954 Strat (1 of 1954) cracked as well. I purchased it in April this year and the knob cracked before the guitar was even played. The replacement knob came from the Fender Custom Shop which suggests the comments about them being the same stock as Custom Shop models is correct. By the way, I am writing an e-book on USA made Fender Anniversary Strats, so I might be able to include some suitable photos of any member's Anniversary Strats from 1979 onwards and any interesting stories about them if anyone is interested in sending details to me. Photos of some of my Anniversary Strats are here http://www.garysguitars.co.uk/gallery.htm. :D

I just happen to split the tone knob from my 60th Anniversary American Vintage 1954 Stratocaster in half. There weren't kidding when they said that the polystyrene control knobs were fragile. I will contact Fender and see about a replacement.

I contacted the dealer I bought mine from and they requested a replacement from Fender. I have to say Fender's service was excellent. As I wanted to keep this guitar 100% original I requested a replacement of the exact knob which I couldn't buy in the shops, because I know these were special to this guitar. I'm in the UK so Fender UK sent me a set of standard knobs and pickup covers etc just so I could continue playing if I wanted. They then ordered an exact replacement from the Custom Shop which I now have. Clearly there is an issue with these components which as we have established appear to be fitted on Custom Shop models as well as the 60th 1954 American Vintage Limited Edition models. It is a great guitar and the after sales service was great too.
