Hello, all. I have a problem.

I own a Deluxe Lone Star Stratocaster and it has been almost everything I could want. I didn't care too much for the Pearly Gates + in the bridge so I recently bought a Seymour Duncan Texas Hot Antiquity and had a tech install it and do a setup. I got home and plugged in to my Blues Jr. Tweed and the results were not good.

It seems as though the tone from ALL of my pickups is now sharp and lacks dimension which is totally unlike before. It doesn't seem to be a out of phase issue because the hum is still cancelled in position 2 or 4 and bridge and neck alone area having the issue. My amp was functioning the day before so I don't believe that is it. Pickup height was adjusted and tamed the high end a bit but the tone was still lacking body.

Does anybody have any idea on what could be going on here? Thanks for your help.

Check and see if it is wired as per the SD directions. I would take it back to whoever did the work on it.

Check to see if your pots are 500K ohms. If they are, change them all to 250K ohms Audio Taper. This should alleviate your problem.

I would say that if you're not satisfied with the work done then ask the tech to take another look at it, insist on him listening to the guitar through an amp and understanding the issue before he does any remedial work and insist on hearing the finished result before taking the guitar home.

The fact that the single pickup settings sound wrong is a strange issue, maybe there is a wiring error in there or a grounding issue. It's impossible to say without looking inside the guitar and putting a multimeter on it.

Those are all good answer .

Return to the tech. He could do a mistake , Why he did not ear this poor sound if he check it ?

Is it a qualified tech or only a jack of all trail ?
