IMO, can't go wrong with a strat no matter the model ;)

As for amps, I'd highly recommend a 5 watt tube amp. Epiphone Junior, Blackheart Little Giant, Fender Champ, they're all great amps. Don't be put off thinking 5 watts won't cut it, they're LOUD (your clean headroom won't really cut it against a set of drums but apart from that they're sweet)

Yup. I just installed these in my '68 reissue.....

Very, very cool pups.

(Of course, if this was me, I'd be looking at a Squier or a MiM strat to slap these babies into....but for some, only the real thing will do. Good luck finding one out there.....)

CRATE amps had this 120 watt head GT120H that would blow your mind i have seen guitarist use this head along with tube heads and you can not tell the differnce thats how good this non tube head is. its not avalable anymore so you would have to look around for it E.bay. if you find one grab it.

any strat can get u and hendrix-ish tone but for a good hendrix sound and look id take the 70s for the large headstock POST CBS style but the 60s is a great guitar for me its a 50s cuz iam a clapton fan and i found one that looked just like brownie

Call Robert Williams at Sweetwater Guitar. 800-222-4700 ext 1371. He will go over a number of issues with you and will e-mail you recommendations. I just purchased a Deluxe Players Strat and we had several conversations to narrow down such things as sound , wood, neck size, pick ups , price range, and even color. I received my guitar today and it was just what I wanted. If you send Robert an -email at Sweetwater he will likely call you and start the process of finding the Strat that is right for you. I was looking for a ventage strat so I could play surf, classic rock etc. I am also a big Ventures fan. Tell him Carl for Morristown referred you.
