Gosh, what a pleasant surprise! Fender offers their venerable American Standard Stratocaster with a pair of chrome-covered Vintage Twin Head humbucking pickups for searing raw power and ferocious bump that cuts through the mix.

Here's the description:

Quote:
Fender’s flagship American Standard guitar lineup now rocks extra hard with a distinctively formidable HH Stratocaster model. The American Standard Stratocaster HH hot-rods the time-honored American Standard Strat with a pair of Twin Head Vintage humbucking pickups that deliver enormous full-bodied sound. Other premium features include a maple neck with comfortable “modern C” profile and fourscrew Micro-Tilt™ neck plate, 9.5” fingerboard radius and 22 medium jumbo frets, three-way blade pickup switching, three-ply parchment pickguard, three aged white control knobs (one for each pickup and a single master tone), two-point synchronized tremolo bridge with vintage style stamped steel saddles, and more. Hard-shell case included.

Available in Black, 3-Colour Burst, Olympic White and Ocean Blue Metallic.

Explanation is Fender decided to not include coil tap/split in order to achieve the full-bodied Les Paul bark from the Vintage Twin Heads which supposedly emulate a late '50s PAF humbucking pickup.

The controls are similar to that of a Jazz Bass, with two separate volumes and a master tone.

Although it's possible to mod the guitar with a 5-way super switch and rewire the controls for master volume and separate tone controls, any modification performed without having the necessary skills might hurt its value.

In order to obtain coil tap and split abilities the Vintage Twin Heads must have a 4-conductor cable allowing such operation, which is not the case for this specific model.

I know it's not a traditional Strat, but I like it!

I like it. The more I look at it, the more I want it..

Could still do with a Floyd rose original though.. But it's on the right path for me :)

So they basically adopted Les Paul wiring (less 1 tone control) to the Stratocaster. Interesting, but I would still would like to have the coil-split option. Even Gibsons and Epi's are doing that now.

These twin-humbucker American Standards are not listed in the products page yet.

So at this point one would need to get a couple of 4 wire humbukers, and Push Pull Guitar Potentiometers, and keep all the original parts in order to not devalue there instrument, but in due time Fender may see their era and correct it.
By the Way I would like that full scale with buckers

Just curious, has anyone actually seen or played one of these yet? I’ve been to six music stores in 3 different states & nobody physically has one in stock as of mid-January 2015. In fact, none of the store employees were familiar with this model. I can’t find any reviews other than a YouTube video of a French-Canadian guy doing a brief demo with one.

Build your own and expand your color options. And put a Deluxe neck on it. I just assembled this in November. With a 5 way with split, Duncan JB neck, and DiMarzio Tonezone in the neck. It is my # 1.

Though I would like to have a double fat Tele.

Thats what I do too, but I think I would like to buy one new at some point before long. I have only bought and registered a 2010 American Standard P, the rest were used. Some were really light almost brand new used though.

I have been looking at this guitar for awhile (online), and I really like it, looks and features. I want one, Olympic White with maple fret board, but would like to try first if possible. If someone doesn't stock one soon so I can try it out, I might just have to go ahead and order it. :D
