Recently I posed a question, which neck profile would be best for me... In my questioning, I asked about specific models and artists and who had the chunkiest neck. So I went with a Robert Cray neck being a thick 60's C profile...

At first glance, I was a bit dissapointed. I found the Robert Cray neck at the first fret was exactly the same as my outgoing '98 Deluxe Series neck. However, the chunkiness of the neck was past the fourth fret to a nice size at the 12th. Much better. What's odd to me is the Eric Clapton neck was just the opposite. Nice V profile from the first fret to the 9th, but then became noticable thinner and flat.

Anyone else ever compare necks notice this? The Eric Clapton neck was probably a 2006. The Robert Cray neck was from a late 2013 Stratocaster. Internet rumor has it the older necks were much thicker. Any merit to that either?

I'm not the resource you need for those questions...

...but a Neck, that I recently noticed being available on ebay, is the New chunky D shaped, Fender Vintage Hot Rod 50's Maple board, compound radius.

Like this one:
