I bought a bridge for this Highway One body some time ago. It seems that the string spacing is super wide at the bridge. I got the bridge and the body separately. The bridge I got for it, the mounting screws are correct. But, the string width seems to be much wider than I'd like. In fact the strings are hanging on the edge of the neck close to the heel. Both E strings lay just outside the pick up pole pieces and lay just above the mounting screws. I need something with the same mounting screw layout but the strings need to live closer together. Correct?

I've shopped for a new trem for this body. It seems there is only one type that will fit it. Is there a regular size and a Narrow? It appears that I need a 2 1/16" string spacing....what I have is closer to 2 1/4" or 3/16"....Am I accurate with this assumption?

Thanks for any help....and feel free to point me in the direction of a bridge that will be what I need. Cheers!

Here you go...I think you need the 2-7/32 one. Either way, call these folks and they will take care of you.

The trem for the Hwy 1 is more norrow.

Go here for parts. http://www.jhs.co.uk/wilkinson.html

I needed to replace the bridge on my '79 Strat with a closer saddle spacing because the edges of the neck had warm away so badly.

I hope this helps.

Here's a table on different Fender string spacings & Callaham bridges:

The Highway1 should have 2 1/16".

The correct bridge is the one fitted to the American Special.
Fender part number 007-2290-000. It is a bare bridge without fittings and the block is stamped PW-36.

This is the Fender link for UK users. It may be different if you are elsewhere
